Kolkata (AP) Indian rice-flour tortillas have doubled in cost since April because of the government’s ban on imports of domestic corn flour, and the Indian Blue Bird flour has gone up as well.
The price of blue bird flour and other Indian flour has also been increasing by more than 20 percent since April.
The government is banning imports of rice flour, which has a higher concentration of wheat flour, from countries such as Bangladesh, Iran and India.
The ban applies to domestic rice flour and imported wheat flour.
Indian food companies have complained about the restrictions, saying it has created a severe shortage of wheat in India.
India has a shortage of rice, one of the world’s most important grains, and a shortage in wheat because of climate change and over-harvesting of crops.
